Renovation of an apartment in Gallipoli, with new living area

Architè, abbiamo comprato casa, dobbiamo arredarla e comprare una nuova cucina ma non sappiamo come fare perché la zona giorno è piccola, stretta e lunga.

The starting point

This is how the adventure began with my friends Luca and Chiara, who didn't yet know that shortly thereafter we would overturn that house that seemed ready, but wasn't because something wasn't working.

The work

The living area, which initially could not accommodate a sofa larger than a two-seater, became a large living room with living room and kitchen, through the demolition of the partition that divided it from the entrance.

The result

Thanks to the new finishes, the apartment has acquired a more elegant and modern character, suited to the needs and aesthetic tastes of the customers.

Questions about this project

Is it better to furnish or renovate?

It depends on what's stopping the house from functioning. If the problem is the finishes, the furniture is enough. If instead it is the distribution of spaces, furnishing a wrong plan well does not correct it: here the owners only wanted to furnish, and the advice was to work on the walls first.

How do you gain space in a long, narrow living area?

By recovering the surrounding surface, not just redesigning the furniture. In many apartments the entrance is a room in itself that takes up useful space: demolishing the wall that separates it from the living room restores width to the living room and finally allows you to place a real sofa.
